Sandy Hook Park Rehabilitation
National Park Service
New York and New Jersey
BDA provided planning, design, and construction administration services for infrastructure improvements and the rehabilitation and return to active use of the historic buildings at Fort Hancock and Sandy Hook Proving Ground. The project also enhanced public access to park natural and historic resources by construction of a seven-mile multi-use recreational pathway along the length of Sandy Hook. The entire park is a National Historic Landmark.
BDA provided conceptual solutions and final design of water improvements for the park’s domestic and fire protection systems. BDA developed the design of the multi-use pathway through environmentally sensitive areas. Careful planning was required in existing historic structures to ensure that distinctive materials, features, and finishes were retained and preserved.
