Environmental Assessments
Finger Lakes Mall, Bass Pro Shop Expansion
Town of Aurelius, New York
The Finger Lakes Mall needed an expedited Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) for demolition of the former Sears Automotive store, to allow for development of Bass Pro Shops. Several environmental concerns were identified during Phase I ESA, including hydraulic oil tanks, an underground acid neutralization vault, a former underground oil storage tank, a sand trap, and oil interceptor vaults.
In order to investigate potential subsurface soil and groundwater impacts, BDA performed subsurface borings in the vicinity of the tanks/vaults. The hydraulic oil tanks and acid neutralization vault were pumped and closed, and the sand trap/oil interceptor was pumped and inspected. BDA prepared a Remedial Action Plan, which was implemented on an expedited schedule.
