Principal

Capital Region

James (Jace) is a national award-winning architect with nearly two decades of experience in the allied disciplines of architecture, construction, real property development, and interior design. This balanced experience brings a comprehensive approach to architecture. As Principal, Jace leads Beardsley’s expansion in the Capital Region and reinforces Beardsley’s commitment to existing clients in the area.

Jace’s strengths lie in his diverse and well-rounded background. An avid learner, he enjoys exploring topics outside of architecture and construction to help him better understand the ethos of clients and contractors, leading to projects that are designed to achieve a comprehensive set of goals. Beginning his journey to architecture in the construction industry, Jace learned creatively in the field, gaining a detailed understanding of how buildings are put together from the ground up. He applies that knowledge, as well as a strong background in finance, to every project, employing a truly holistic approach throughout the design process.

In addition to design, he enjoys mentoring younger staff and sharing his knowledge with them while also challenging his own understanding of the discipline. It’s important to Jace to cultivate a creative environment and encourage and assist others in achieving their goals.

Jace, along with his wife and young son, enjoys taking advantage of the many outdoor activities the Capital Region has to offer, including earning his spot as an Adirondack 46-er. He is an accomplished carpenter and woodworker, building furniture and renovating homes.
