Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve Visitors Center Design

Beardsley Architects + Engineers was selected to provide full architectural and engineering design services for a new 4,800 sq ft visitors center at the 292-acre Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve in Depew, NY.
The new visitors center supports the preserve’s educational mission with a flexible classroom learning center, library, and auditorium seating up to 66 people. The classroom can be divided into two spaces for different programs. Visitors enjoy a quiet interior viewing room, restroom facilities, outdoor pathways to trailheads, and designated areas for nature observation. For staff, the facility includes offices, indoor/outdoor storage, and a kitchen area.
Environmental sustainability guided the design, earning the project LEED Silver certification. Sustainable features include thoughtful site planning, durable, low-maintenance building materials, low-emitting finishes, water-efficient fixtures, indoor air quality measures, recycling accommodations, and thorough building commissioning.
The center provides an inviting, environmentally responsible gateway for visitors to connect with nature at Reinstein Woods.
