Since 2013, Beardsley Architects + Engineers has partnered with Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES (WFLBOCES) to renovate three aging buildings at their Newark, NY campus, turning them into modern, flexible spaces that better serve students and the community.
Through a collaborative study with WFLBOCES leadership and staff, the renovations created conference and meeting areas for up to 730 people and added a new commercial kitchen to support events and provide real-world training for the school’s popular culinary arts program. The updates also include a dedicated nursing program suite with a five-bed mock clinical for hands-on learning, and improvements to the central Science Kits facility, which assembles curriculum-based materials for delivery to 25 regional school districts.
These before-and-after photos show how thoughtful design can transform outdated educational buildings into vibrant centers for learning, career training, and community connection.
