Fort Lee Fire & Emergency Facility

Beardsley Architects + Engineers provided full-service architectural and engineering design for Phase III of a new fire and emergency services facility at Fort Lee, Virginia, supporting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ mission to enhance base safety and readiness.
This 12,400 sq ft facility includes five drive-thru apparatus bays with specialized vehicle exhaust ventilation systems, and a one-story dormitory wing with ten sleeping units and support spaces. The dormitory was planned for future expansion, with structural provisions to add a second floor as needed.
Delivered through a design-build process, the project prioritized sustainable design practices throughout. It earned a Gold rating under the Corps’ Sustainable Project Rating Tool (SPiRiT) by incorporating high-performance systems and efficient building materials that reduce energy use and support long-term durability.
