Fort Drum Operational Readiness Training Complex









As part of a design-build team, Beardsley Architects + Engineers delivered complete architectural and engineering design services for the Operational Readiness Training Complex (ORTC) at Fort Drum, NY, spanning an approximately 47-acre site.
The complex includes two 61,116 sq ft Barracks buildings, a 22,579 sq ft Officers Quarters, an 11,237 sq ft Battalion Headquarters, a 16,761 sq ft Dining Facility, an 11,854 sq ft Vehicle Maintenance Shop, and three 1,344 sq ft storage sheds. Comprehensive site design features a physical training area, new utility services, roadways, and an efficient stormwater management system.
Certified LEED Gold under LEED v2.2 New Construction, the ORTC integrates high-performance building envelopes, energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems, and durable, low-maintenance, LEED-compliant interior finishes. Thoughtful coordination of lighting and thermal controls, along with optimized site stormwater design, contributed to achieving high sustainability standards.
