Merry-Go-Round Playhouse Historic Theater Renovation

Beardsley Architects + Engineers created a master plan and led extensive renovations for this historic carousel building turned theater in Auburn, NY. The project modernized the playhouse with new and expanded seating, upgraded air conditioning, an orchestra pit, scenery flying space, and advanced lighting and sound systems, while also enlarging the box office to improve operations.

Accessibility was a key focus, with wider aisles, removable wheelchair seating, accessible restrooms, and an infrared assistive listening system added to enhance the visitor experience. A detached snack bar was renovated to provide additional guest amenities. All upgrades were completed with respect to the building’s unique historic character and its designation on the NYS Historic Registry.
