As a Principal and former owner of his own firm before merging with Beardsley in 2000, Barry Halperin is a key contributor to office-wide management decisions. He describes his leadership style as collaborative, and he enjoys working in partnership with Beardsley's quality staff, both in the Syracuse office and throughout the company.
Barry is proud of the client relationships he has maintained over the years and believes this has paid dividends to the firm in repeat business and great design opportunities. He describes his design philosophy as one that best serves the needs of the client. He knows you have to first understand the client's needs in order to create a building and space that works well for them. "I take great pride in the multi-family affordable housing that our firm has worked on because it provides something good for people who really need it," says Halperin.
Working closely with clients on projects, Barry enjoys the variety of work that his office undertakes, particularly the complex environmental and geographic conditions they often face. With an emphasis on contextual design, he particularly enjoys residential design including Adirondack camp design, senior housing, high-end residential and multi-family affordable housing.
Recently returning to Syracuse from Northern New York, Barry enjoys the outdoor lifestyle of many Central New Yorkers. He enjoys hiking, fishing, canoeing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
